Article 3: The best interests of the child must be a top priority in all decisions and actions that affect children.

...it makes you feel good because it helps you help yourself as well as others.

Year 5 Pupil

Wellbeing and pastoral care underpin our  WE ARE curriculum and our vision for Penwortham to be an excellent school, where outstanding practice, equality and well-being are at the heart of all that we do.

We understand that the success and achievement of our children is inextricably linked to their wellbeing.   We define wellbeing as equipping our children with the skills and tools they will need to navigate life’s ups and downs successfully (see diagram below).

 Our Aims

  • To continually promote wellbeing within the ethos and curriculum of the school
  • To support the wellbeing and pastoral needs of our school community (pupils, staff and families)
  • To work effectively in partnerships with external service providers
  • To nurture self-efficacy and resilience by supporting individuals to recognise their own strengths and the resources available to them.

To explore our wellbeing and pastoral offer please visit the pages within this section to find out more including resources to support you at home.  If you have any questions about our offer, or if you are worried about your child/ren please speak with their class teacher or contact the school office to arrange a meeting.
